#134 – Stripper At 14; Starting A Trucking Company, To Building 6 Figure “Truck Driver” Recruiting Agency!

Early Life:

Ashley Thomas, a truck driver recruiting agency and the owner of Supreme Driver Recruiting, has seen both sides of life’s spectrum. Born in a small city in Texas and raised by her great grandmother after being abandoned by her mother on the doorstep. Her great-grandmother then raised her in a smothering environment where she felt claustrophobic. At the age of 13, Thomas dropped out of school and left home in search of her mother. When she found her mother, she found her at a seedy hotel. Unfortunately, the same period saw Thomas fall in with a pimp who exploited her.

Truck driver recruiting agency Thomas worked as a stripper for eight years after getting out of her wretched six-month with her mother. It took meeting a guy she loved—who advised her to quit the stripping job—to change Thomas’s outlook on life. She quit her job and became a salesperson for solar panels for home security systems for four years.

When it comes to trucking, Thomas knew the industry vaguely when a friend told her about his plan to buy a truck and get into business. She had no experience in the trucking industry but agreed to join it when her landlord decided to put up start-up money for the buy. Unfortunately, the driver hired was a thief, and he stole the truck just as she was beginning to feel assured of her plan’s success. Despite that setback, Thomas overcame these challenging circumstances to become the woman she is today.

Interaction with TN’H:

Thomas shared with TN’H how she managed to overcome the obstacles of stealing a truck after losing her previous business. Thomas was now more cautious about finding new hires and required background checks before making any offers. She began by recalling the origins of her firm—how she had started with just one truck and how she grew the business to its current size, and she shared some driver recruitment strategies that would be helpful to any trucking company.

Supreme Driver Recruiting provides a service for small and large trucking companies, from recruiting drivers to helping keep trucks rolling by finding qualified and supreme drivers. During an interview of an hour’s length, Thomas discussed several factors that are pertinent to the driver recruiting business and its prospects. These include the hours and pay scale of typical drivers; her niche customers and how to target them; and factors that may influence one’s decision to work as a driver.

When asked about the business model of a driver-recruiting company, Thomas explained to the audience how it works. Driver-recruiting companies appeal to potential truckers by cold-calling them with job offers and arranging interviews. The team will handle obtaining a driver’s license, and background checks should include one like the driver. This type of business model has proven to be very lucrative for entrepreneurs.

Final thought:

Ashley Thomas concluded the interview by saying, “Be very persistent about your dream. Don’t give up, it’s gonna pop!” Her words have ignited a fire in all of us for the following weeks.
