#95 – How To Make Millions As A Auto Transport Broker

Early life:

Businessman Akash Patel was born in New Jersey, where he received his degree in finance. After graduating from college, he thought he got the job at UBS after several interviews and was supposed to join on Monday. However, it turns out that there had been some mix-up, and he didn’t actually get the job.

After this incident, Patel went through a lot. He was depressed for a long time. All he knew was that he wanted to do something with business but didn’t know where to start or what kind of business he should get into. Patel began researching different businesses to start, but the industry he wanted to join kept eluding him. It was not until he literally stumbled upon his neighbor, an auto transport broker, that Patel found his business opportunity. 

Patel soon sees that it is a sales targeting job, and his skills are particularly well-matched to this work. For the first six months, he was one of the top three sales guys in the company. Patel learned about the day-to-day operations of these companies by working for two auto transport brokers, where he was able to see how successful transport brokers run their businesses. After his second job, he had already drawn up a blueprint for a business he wanted to start—Yellow Brick Transport.

After having lost five thousand dollars in an ill-fated business deal, Patel founded his own business: Yellow Brick Transport. Since then, this auto transport broker has taken on many jobs, including hauling cars.

When asked what car hauling is, Patel told TN’H that it’s a niche industry in the specialized truck that can haul an entire automobile. Patel explained what car hauling is and how it is done, as well as its mechanisms and differences from traditional trucking. In an interview lasting over an hour, Patel spoke of his experience in starting the company, how he maintains relationships with carriers, and what it takes to run a successful business.

Patel discussed the basic business models for auto transport companies and revealed the importance of product quality, service, and familiarity with customers when running a successful operation. Patel offered a comprehensive perspective of the auto transport industry and provided useful insights for those considering a career in the industry.
