Jay Rich, popularly known as Big Jay Rich, started her trucking company two years ago. She says she grew up with the business so fast that when things got tough to manage and follow through on plans, it seemed like everything fell apart for her.
The brave woman in this story found herself at an all-time low after losing nearly everything.
Instead of giving up or submitting defiantly, she fought back by creating the same venture more successfully thus far, mainly because it’s based on strong management skills.
When she started her own trucking company, Jay made many mistakes that cost her the biggest contract. She felt like a failure and wanted out but knew there was no way for this entrepreneur to give up on what they’ve built so far because at least some parts of it worked well. When she felt like a failure, the one person who never failed was herself. As CEO of her own company and as someone responsible for drivers’ wages while also trying to get load boards-the list goes ever so long; it seemed impossible at times, but there must have been some sort of way out because deep down inside? We all know we can come up against tough situations if they need us to.
Jay Rich is a successful CEO of Jayrich Trucking and runs an academy named “Roads to Riches,” where she teaches truckpreneurs how they can scale their business successfully.
Interaction with TN’H:
In an interview with Truck N’ Hustle, Jay Rich talks about her journey starting a trucking company last year and failing with Amazon. She says she had to start over after failing but learned a lot.
Jay revealed her mistakes as an entrepreneur to help new entrepreneurs avoid them. She spoke about how difficult it is, at first glance-in any field of work really-to know whether you’re making good or bad decisions when there’s no immediate feedback. Everything relies on your gut instinct alone which often leads us astray because humans aren’t perfect beings capable of omniscience.
Jay Rich is a strong woman in the trucking industry. She had to say plenty about how it works, and she shared some valuable insights for those listening that might be interested or starting their own business soon. Jay talked mostly about load boards– finding them when you need one, lanes, retaining drivers by keeping benefits intact even if there are problems at work. It sounds like this lady knows what she’s talking about from her experience as both an employee and entrepreneur.
The key to winning any battle is knowing how to use your resources. In this final thought of her interview, Jay Rich says that we need only focus on ourselves and what’s happening for us instead of letting others define our reality.
She said, “They’ll focus on what’s happening to you, but you focus on what’s happening for you.”
