#127 – NFL PLAYER Makes 85K PER MONTH RENTING “PORTABLE TOILETS!”

Early Life:

Russell Shepard grew up in Houston and likes to call himself an athlete. He is a former football wide receiver and counts his seven years in the NFL among his many successful endeavors.

Russell has always loved sports and entrepreneurship-and his love for both only grew from his college days. Even though he was a competitive athlete, he sought ways to increase his financial income and diversify his sources of revenue. Therefore, he started his own transportation dump truck company, ShepBoys.

The company has been so successful that they’ve been approached three times to be acquired in the short time they’ve existed. Russell, however, isn’t in a rush to sell. He is keen to build the ShepBoys name and expand the company’s product line and territory.

Interaction with TN’H:

During a TN’H interview, the former NFL player told stories of the enjoyment he experienced while playing sports as a child. From sharing his experience about how he got into NFL to how his life was impacted by playing professional football, Russel has shown a lot of humor and wit in the interview.

As with his football career, Russel is quickly making a name for himself in the transportation industry as well. ShepBoys is a Waste Management company founded in 2020 by Russell Shepard. He claims that his conversation with his friend John was pivotal for starting the company. When he was offered a large NFL contract, Russell turned it down to work full time and grew ShepBoys.

Russel had a lot to say about how the transportation and waste management industries had impacted several people’s lives in an interview that lasted almost two hours. He shares that when he started his company, he had to face the challenges of funding, customers, and building a team of reliable experts.

Not only that, but he also even gave the young ones some plans on how to start a business of their own. He first said that before anybody gets into it, they should have the correct type of equipment. Then he added that they should give attention to other compliances as well, and of course, they should prepare for the cost involved in starting it up.

Final thought:

To this last thought, Russell added: “Be a sponge. Absorb and learn from everything you see and hear. Be humble enough to surround yourself with people who are both knowledgeable and kind. Everyone has to be a giver rather than a taker. If you aren’t gregarious by nature, you won’t fit in here.”
